S & S went into this game only needing to draw to secure the Divisional title.

With everyone available a large squad of 15 was taken to the game. S & S started the game well,
Steve Brookes & Tom Pateman were in particularly lively form down the right & left respectively. S & S took the lead after 10 minutes Jakob Ooms forcing home a goalmouth scramble.

With the inevitable substitutions being made this seemed to affect S & S negatively & they allowed Bedford's experienced side back into the game & not surprisingly they equalised 25 minutes into the game.
With the inevitable substitutions being made this seemed to affect S & S negatively & they allowed Bedford's experienced side back into the game & not surprisingly they equalised 25 minutes into the game.

The second half started with S & S continuing to struggle with consistency, passing moves breaking down & a lack of discipline generally to their game. Ten minutes into the half & the Bedford centre forward Chris Townson took a well struck goal.

With time running out S & S skipper James Graham made his final set of substitutions. Finally S & S started to play some good consistent hockey and with six minutes left won a short corner. Digger Barnes found Luke Bridger and he lifted the ball into the goal. This set S & S off into some of their best hockey of the season Steve Ashdown found the net after a great cross from the right. Then youngsters Bridger & Jacob Barnes put together a stunning passing move, Brooksie on hand to reverse the ball into the net for the best goal of the game. Ashdown then scored his second to equal the club's record for goals in a season with his 34th this campaign.

Somehow in the course of six bizarre minutes S & S had scored four goals to grab the divisional title. Despite some great performances from Barnes, Brookes, Bridger & Tim Cakebread, Ollie Sole was voted Man of the Match after a very consistent defensive performance throughout the game.

Team: Dominic Barone, Tim Cakebread, Pete "Digger" Barnes, Ollie Sole, Dan Robbins, Tom Pateman, Jacob Barnes, Luke Bridger, Steve Brookes, Jakob Ooms, Steve Ashdown, James Graham, Malcolm Sherrington, Alan "Woz" Warren, Jamie Bellingham
