Ladies 3s visited Hertford 3s. Would the consumption of too much Christmas food literally weigh S&S down? Having lost to Hertford (2-0) in their first encounter, the improved S&S were determined to be victorious this time around. The first half saw S&S bombard Hertford with wave upon wave of attacks. The second half continued in S&S’ favour who piled on the pressure on the Hertford defence. They eventually scored (after a few near misses) when Alexander’s blistering cross from the right was met by Hannah Woodhouse who volleyed the ball past the floundering Hertford keeper 0-1. Woodhouse pounced again when a change in short corner routine paid off, increasing the score to 0-2. S&S were all over Hertford and there were no threats that the S&S defence and midfield didn’t deal with with ease. S&S wrapped up the game with a third goal from Chloe Luetchford . If it hadn’t been for the superb Hertford keeper and off target shots, the score could have been considerably greater for S&S. Sharon Wood in goal for S&S didn’t touch the ball at all and Nina Wainwright’s only trouble was who to vote for as Girlie of the Game. This was probably S&S’ best performance all season. Confidence oozed from every player, which they hope to carry over to next week’s home fixture against Hertford 2s. Final score 0-3. Girlie of the Game: Hannah Woodhouse.
