Christodoulou Strikes again

Only one man would send a text at 2.45am on Thursday morning asking what time the game started on Saturday, only one man would then arrive 2 mins before the game began, only one man could be asked to play at left back before subbing himself off and then appearing upfront minutes later to score the winner.
The 4s had a rare 1pm pushback at home to Bedford, a skeleton team was boosted by the late confirmation of Ed Murray-Clark and Waff being available after a late fitness test. The 4s hoping to amend the previous two weeks efforts.
Shefford began strongly and pushed the opposition back with the odd Bedford attack being safely dismantled by Danny Wilson Hall, Gully and Barden Jnr. Danny Hall literally laying his body on the line at the cost of a pair of specs! Waff held the ball up well and as ever the midfield was fuelled by Darran France (fresh from his latest mission for queen and country).
Despite Shefford having the majority of the possession the stubbornness of the Bedford defence was evident resulting in a goalless first half.
Shefford began the second half with gusto, Joannua and Stone providing useful options on both wings and Barden Snr darting in the opposition D on several occasions. Zach Christodoulou coming on at left back and essentially having a paddy because everyone was ‘shouting at him’ (with such things as ‘man on’ , ‘pass to me’ and ‘defend’). Zach promptly subbed himself off to gather his thoughts. Minutes later a Shefford attack in a busy D saw a reverse stick appear from nowhere to squeeze the ball into the bottom corner of the goal.....and Zach running away in celebration with the biggest smile you could possibly imagine ?
With ten minutes left to go Shefford pressed for a second with the front two of Trev (of Trev’s triangles) and Gully giving us a combined age up top of over 100 for the first time in about 4 years. Trev almost finding the back board and Gully looking like a young gazelle as he glided into space.
A hard 1-0 victory against a well organised opposition to end a difficult month for the 4s.
