The Men’s 4s crossed the county border for the late game at Letchworth, Jack Prothero was adorned in the GK kit which allegedly had a built in first aid kit, corkscrew, blowtorch and several other attachments to make any gadget fan jealous.
A dogged first 20 minutes saw Letchworth camped around the Sandy D with the defence just about holding firm. Debutant Austin Keep got stuck in despite nearly face planting the Astro on two occasions. A short corner was confidently injected by Ben Stone which fell to Darran France to sweep home at the near post. S&S made it to half time with a goal advantage,Alistair Wood almost smashing home a goal just before the whistle went with the returning Mark Whatham just ghosting the ball wide from the resulting short corner.
The second half was similar to the first with Letchworth attacking in droves often outnumbering the Shefford defence. Sam Giddings and Danny Wilson Hall ordered the back line around well with Lewis Barden almost doubling the lead at the other end. Another Shefford attack was intercepted leading to a Letchworth equaliser with 90 seconds left on the clock.
A good result despite the late equaliser between two sides both unbeaten thus far this season.
Final score Letchworth 1 - S&S 1
