to men's 4ths

The men’s 4s began their league season with an away trip to Stevenage 5s. Zach Christodoulou setting the tone early by almost turning up half an hour early for the scheduled meet time. However all players were present and correct at the ground and as a few gentle spots of rain fell the game began.

With no keeper, skipper Coverdale played as kicking back modelling a rather snug blue bib not to dissimilar to something Baby Spice would have worn in the late 90s. A good first period saw Shefford take the lead as Paul Barden baseball batted one over the line to record his first goal for the club. A few useful attacks saw Shefford end the half strongly but only 1 goal to the good.

A crazy 15 minute period at the start of the second half saw Stevenage win two short corners and convert them both before Grant Maxted equalised from the top of the D. Shefford could and probably should have gone on to win the game as a series of short corners came to nothing. Sam Giddings almost came up with a late winner after some excellent link up play with Tom Joannou.

Other positives saw Toby Morlidge tracking the opposition well and Danny Wilson Hall pushing the team on from the back (and briefly the sideline ?).

A final score of 2-2 and a visit to the opposition club house where young Zach announced he was being picked up from Tesco and promptly disappeared, Clubcard in hand.
