as well as the game win!

The Men’s 4s cobbled together a side after a week of texts, emails and frantic phone calls. The side buoyed by the return of Grant Maxted who persuaded his eldest son Josh to make up our full XI.

Despite a team missing a few key faces S&S started well with Zach Christodoulou filling in at left back (after turning up 35 minuets late for the agreed meeting time) and Ed Murray Clark marking the opposition centre forward out of most of the first half. Things got better with Josh Maxted scrambling the ball home for a goal in on debut only for his Dad to follow this up ten minuets later from a well struck short corner.

The second half saw Southgate pull one back fairly early on with Shefford unlucky not to add more goals with Alistair Wood, Darren France and Paul Barden all going close. With one minute left on the clock Dan Coverdale managed to play a respectable backfoot defensive to prevent a bouncing shot sneaking across the goal line and see the 4s start the new year with a dogged 2-1 win.

With only the bare XI this meant there was plenty of extra tea available although with 5 teenagers in the side you’d never have thought that was the case
