Third placed S&S Ladies 3s welcomed second placed Bedford 5s to Fortress Sandy for the return fixture of the season. Having narrowly lost 0-1 earlier in the season,
S&S were on a mission to win! The first 15 minutes were fairly balanced. That was until Corin Lancaster made a forceful run past a couple of Bedford defenders on the right, blasting the ball into the top left hand corner of the goal. Keeper Casey Elsby was called to make a save close to the half time whistle, which kept S&S in the lead. Going into the second half there was the need for more goals from S&S. Denise Alexander obliged from a short corner which she struck sweetly into the bottom left hand corner, out of reach of the Bedford keeper. With Bedford on the back foot and having very little possession, S&S pressed harder and harder via slick passing throughout the whole team, looking for more goals. Another short corner was awarded to S&S, which saw Scarlett Howman’s initial shot rebounding to Freya Bradshaw, who flicked the ball into the back of the net. The minutes were counting down to the end of the game. With the Bedford keeper no where in sight, Caitlin Bradshaw latched onto a loose ball and calmly scored S&S’s fourth and final goal. With each and every member of team giving 100% commitment, S&S deserved this resounding victory. Final result S&S 4, Bedford 0. Girlie of The Game: Corin Lancaster.
