the ladies 3's have a win!

Ladies 3s came up against Harpenden 2s. All fired from last week’s brave battle, the 3s were up for it! It didn’t take long before S&S were awarded a short corner. Tina Fury received the ball. Her shot elegantly glided through the air, arcing then dipping to hit the top of the back board - GOAL! Or was it?! The umpires deliberated for what seemed like an eternity for Fury and her team mates. Goal awarded 0-1! Fired up S&S proceeded to pile on the pressure. Their persistence was rewarded by a second goal scored again by Fury. Another press, another short corner. This time Denise Alexander took delivery of the ball and despatched it precisely past the defence and keeper into the bottom right hand corner. Hello - 0-3 to S&S at the end of the first half?!!! Buzzing, S&S began the second half bombarding the Harpenden defence with numerous attacks. A slight lapse in concentration and the opposition clawed a goal back. We’re not having that! Chloe Luetchford continually sprinted down the left wing growing more confident with each match. Katie Jeffries harassed the opposition like a snappy Jack Russell, making jabbing tackles. Cath Wilson flew down the right wing, linking up well with Fury and Alexander. The midfield superbly supported the forwards. The defence made courageous tackles and with Heidi Cook-Abbott in goal were determined not to let the opposition back into the game. The final whistle was met by a jubilant S&S team! A well deserved victory for the 3s who have been patiently, steadily growing as a team. Well done ladies! Girlie of the Game: EVERYONE!!
