Character and talent tested in loss @ St alban's
on a cold winters afternoon
S&S Ladies 2s 1 v St Albans 4s. 2
On a cold midwinter afternoon in Hertfordshire, S&S faced third in the table St Albans, where character as much as talent was to be tested. S&S took an early lead when Rayner pounced on Ashby’s pass into the D and sneaked the ball into the goal much to the surprise of the static St Albans keeper. Stunned St Albans went into overdrive launching attack, after attack. The Shefford defence was now well and truly under siege. It held firm with Fogg in outstanding form, thwarting the St Albans forwards with well timed interceptions. Fuller was also on fine form blocking shot after shot. Balls were blasted at her, over her and for twenty minutes she stopped them all. St Albans pressure paid off when they levelled just before half time. The second half again found S&S under pressure, but they still managed to play the ball around the back to launch a counter attack but alas couldn’t find that elusive goal. St Albans went ahead mid way through the half. S&S’s determination and enthusiasm couldn’t save them and sadly had to accept defeat. Next week S&S face top of the table Cheshunt in another tough match.
Lots of votes for GoG but it went to Fuller - outstanding shot stopper.
