The Men's 1s finished the season on a high against local rivals Blueharts, who had everything to play for as they sought to stave off relegation.
In a fairly even first half, the game see sawed from end to end, early chances falling to Liam Stevens & Lewis Bridger. S & S eventually drew first blood Chris Fell scoring the opener. Blueharts came back into the game well and put two past S & S. On the stroke of half time S & S leveled with a well worked Penalty Corner routine, finished by Fell.
The second half was mostly dominated by S & S, Stu Robson collected goal number three and then his shot was deflected in by Fell for the latters hat-trick. The free scoring Fell scored his fourth, again from a well worked penalty corner routine. The final goal was well put together, Jamie Hall & Robson working well to put Stevens through for a neat little finish.
To be fair Blueharts kept going until the end and scored two late goals to give an air of respectability to the score. Defender Ramohan Bhogal had another good game with some fine tackling and attacking from the back. A very satisfying season for Skipper Jeff Hall with all players making good contributions to the team. Third place a fair reflection on what has been a good campaign following back to back promotions in the previous two seasons.
