Cambridge came into this game needing to win to have any chance of avoiding relegation & for S & S the incentive was a third position finish. It was clear from the start which team were up for it, nothing quite clicking for S & S despite having a lot of possession, Cambridge going into the break 2-0 to the good.
The second half carried on much like the first & it was not until the 20th minute that anything changed, Cambridge collected their third & suddenly, whether S & S pride was stung or Cambridge took their foot off the pedal, the intensity upped. In the last 15 minutes S & S were camped in Cambridge's half, first Danny Price was on hand for a neat deflection & with a few minutes left Chris Fell collected S & S's second. The third almost came with Stu Robson coming close. It was a mighty relieved Cambridge side that welcomed the final whistle, S & S were left wondering what might have been.
