Men's 1 lose in London..
with hampered preparations
Preparations were hampered somewhat, with a mix of flat tyres, not getting out of bed early enough and traffic.
With Alyn Meredith and Chris Fell sidelined due to injury we started the game with only 10 players as our 3 youngsters were busy doing their hair and making sure they had the correct tracksuit and sliders look going on.
East London took huge advantage of this and moved the ball swiftly. S&S didn’t help themselves by turning the ball over far too easily and deciding not to mark the men from London. Twenty minutes gone and we found ourselves 5-0 down. With the three young musketeers arrived the team now at 11 settled down a bit and managed to get to half time further unscathed.
This season in Prem B was always going to be a learning curve and this was to be no exception. Lots of character was needed but more importantly being able to use the previous 35 minutes as experience and then trying to do something about it. The boys did this extremely well. They started to show more composure on the ball, made quicker and better decisions. We had more possession, more territory and started to create chances and win corners. East London were limited to odd chances and their frustrations showed as they picked up green and yellow cards and even their captain paid the penalty for their coach’s behaviour towards the umpire.
Yes a frustrating result, but, this is all about a young squad learning and experiencing playing at this level and all that comes with it on and off the pitch.
