The game is 70 minutes not 60!
S&S Men’s 1s 3 CoP 2s 4
S&S went into the game knowing that it was highly unlikely that they would play as poorly as they did the week before.
With a strategy in place to press the opposition S&S started the game very well with Pboro struggling to get the ball passed the halfway line and offering very little threat.
A good run from Alyn Meredith and then a quick free hit taken from the same player and with a pin point pass found Stu Robson breaking from midfield, Robson beat the defender and fired home with some quality.
Pboro replied quickly, but, Meredith who had started the game brightly lifted the ball passed a defender and unusually for him rocketed a forehand shot into the corner.
A minute before the break Pboro were level again after their skilful forward eliminated Meredith with some ease, we all know he shouldn’t be defending, fired a backhand shot towards goal which a boro forward managed to scramble across the line.
2-2 at the rest.
S&S went ahead for the third time in the game, Meredith found Chris Fell who in turn found Liam Stevens, once in the circle and on his backhand there is normally only one outcome. 3-2 ahead and the team should be experienced enough to close out the game from there. Credit to Pboro who showed technical qualities throughout never gave up and began to apply more pressure chasing the equaliser.
S&S also didn’t help themselves with 2 green cards and 2 yellow. Playing with ten men for that duration paid its toll. As Pboro scored two quick goals to take the game 4-3.
Frustration at the end in terms of how well we played for 60 minutes against a good side.
But as we reflect a lot of positives to take from the first 4 games in Prem B.
The team travel to Ipswich and East Suffolk next week.
