Men’s 1s 0 vs Wapping 2s 1
With Wapping finishing in third place in Prem B last year, the boys knew that this would be a stiff test. The quality and intensity was a lot higher than last weeks game, and the S&S lads were up to the challenge. From the off they pressed the opposition and didn’t allow them to settle on a surface not quite what the visitors are used to. The first half saw us create a couple of really good chances that weren’t converted and the talk before the game was partly about being clinical when those chances came about.
0-0 at the break at Wapping if they didn’t already know where not just gonna turn up and turn the new boys of the league over easily.
Within the first 3 minutes of the second half S&S again created two glorious chances but were unable to find the net.
A scrappy bit of play saw Wapping just about bundle the ball over the line and take the lead.
S&S still created good chances to level but for the first time in a very long time drew a blank on the scoresheet.
Disappointed with the result, but, a realistic recognition that this young squad, with some older players will be able to compete in this league.
