after a run of losses

S & S travelled to Harleston in Norfolk on Sunday, another side looking to avoid relegation. If you had seen the first 15/20 minutes of this game there were some similarities to be drawn with the match the day before, as Harleston came at S & S like a tonne of bricks and but for keeper Pete Houghton the goal tally could have been higher in the first half. Goal one for Harleston was a rasping drag flick from a Penalty corner, followed up by a well roofed shot for number two.

What came after was a transformed S & S side, that did not panic & patiently built from the back spreading the ball across the defensive line, waiting for the opportunity to probe the Harleston defence. Chances fell to Liam Stevens, Stu Robson and Jamie Hall, but it was literally just before half time that S & S pulled one back, Robson providing the finish.

S & S dominated the second half, Chris Fell's drag flick from a penalty corner bringing up the equalizer. Halfway through the half Robson scored a great solo goal, drifting across the Harleston D and unleashing a finish their keeper was not expecting into the bottom right hand corner. Robson's subsequent celebrations were exuberant as he reeled away, finger in the air, sharing high fives with the S & S bench.

It was not to be match over though, as a game Harleston side managed to equalize. S & S though upped the intensity pressing hard from the back and had a couple of chances before collecting the winner. Alyn Meredith provided the winner, his first effort was well saved but his second bite at the cherry was finished emphatically, as his reverse stick shot careened into the top of the net.

This was a great team performance from S & S with no players not making a positive contribution, Steve Williams & Ramohan Bhogal in addition to Robson probably just giving that little bit extra. This win has earned S & S a guaranteed third placed position, which is a hell of a performance for a team that prior to this season had earned back to back promotions. This was one of the best matches that S & S have been involved in this season and credit must be given to the Umpires who allowed the game to flow & who communicated well with all the players throughout the game. For S & S's last game of the season they are looking to finish on a high, when they travel to relegation haunted local rivals Blueharts.
