In a fairly evenly matched game S & S started the match with the greatest impetus overrunning the Bedford defence & spending the first 15 - 20 minutes camped in the Bedford half. Despite a series of short corners & a shot hitting the post S & S could not break the deadlock, as the half wore on Bedford broke the shackles and began to look dangerous going forward. It was perhaps a little bit against the run of play when Bedford took the lead, but then for the remainder of the period they dominated the play.
Bedford continued their dominance into the second half as their quick attackers took the game to S & S. It was no surprise therefore when Bedford scored a second. This prompted S & S into action & with the pressure they were rewarded with a series of short corners, but like the first half they could not deliver any threat from their routine. Finally & from open play they got a goal back with Elliot Jones sweeping the ball from mid air into the goal. There followed a period where S & S threatened to equalise, but it was Bedford who looked dangerous on the break & who sealed the win with a third goal.
A good game with both sides playing some incisive and skilful hockey, Bedford on the balance of the play just deserving their victory.
