U19 Boys Fight It Out in Holland

A tough step up to U19's hockey made our boys work hard

We always knew that stepping up from U17s to U19s was going to be tough and we were right. The other teams were mostly well drilled Private School teams or teams from large continental clubs but lowly old Shefford & Sandy still made quite an impact.

Of the 6 matches we played we won two with our very last match being played out against the Swedish Team. We were reduced to 10 men for 25 minutes and 9 men for 6 of the 70 minute match. Despite this , or perhaps because of it, the boys dug deep and showed the mental strength and solid team work that these occasions require securing a solid win.

Umpiring decisions were questionable and sadly our boys did 'win' the most cards awarded through the tournament ( we think) but we were still proud of their efforts and thoroughly enjoyed the roller coster ride that was Hoorn 2018.
